Latin America is quietly producing some of the best street art in the world. Artists from Colombia, Peru, Brazil, and Argentina are making themselves known worldwide. Naturally, street art is political in nature and even more so in Latin America. But, what differentiates new street art as opposed to older graffiti is the level of artistic ability. Street art that was defined by the ramblings of estranged youth or the scribblings of amateurs has been converted into beautiful art and thoughtful political commentary by these same estranged, marginalized figures.
